Steinhuder Meer Speed (13.09.2017) thanks to Plankenreiter for the pic

On Saturday we had another good speedday with the Steinhuder crew. The forecast looked pretty great with a steady 19kts gusting up to 35kts eventually. Unfortunately the wind was accompanied by a lot of rain. Rain in combination with SW wind is usually not good at Steinhude, and as a matter of fact the wind never reached 35kts. On top of that the water level is very high at the moment because we’ve had a lot of rain in the last weeks. Usually it’s around 110cm, on Saturday we had 124cm. This makes the water more choppy.

Personal best at Büsum – fantastic day!

Speedsurfing can be rather frustrating… When you manage to find the perfect spot on a really windy day and all the elements align (tide/windstrength/windangle/temperatures/no heavy rain/…) you can gebüsum speed juni2t some really nice numbers on the GPS-unit. Since my last posting I have been pretty busy. Having warm temperatures with wind almost every day right before christmas makes for some busy days. I got two more very nice sessions on the Möhnesee on my 85 Manta with 9,5, ending up with a topspeed of 31,08 knots. This is an improvement of 1,7 knots for this kit ( previously 29,28 knots). My Approach to GPS-Speedsurfing

speedsurfing la franqui
Speedsurfing La Franqui

When it comes to speedsurfing there generally seem to be two kind of windsurfers. On the one hand there is the kind of surfer that gets onto the kit and goes surfing without a break until he’s to tired to continue. On the other hand many speeders wait around a lot to catch the perfect gust at their best energy level to get the magic run.
